Jose Ortiz, El Buen Samaritano, A Brief Biography

Jose was born in the village of Aibonito, in Puerto Rico. Ortiz and his family were very poor–his father worked on a tobacco farm and his mother, known to neighbors simply as “Mrs. Evarista,” was a seamstress. A poor family with eight children–there’s a fairly typical origin story for a psychic. Poverty and hardship seems to be a common theme among today’s famous psychics.

Jose says that his powers began in “early childhood,” when he noticed that he had special access to what he calls “divine insight,” which means that his every thought and action was guided by a power greater than himself. In other words, Ortiz was having psychic visions, which Ortiz later clarified started at the age of five years old.

Jose Ortiz often talks about “beings of light” that communicate to him and help him make predictions about the future. If you’re at all familiar with psychic phenomenon, you know that paranormal experts would call what Ortiz experiences “extrasensory perception,” or ESP. Ortiz’ ability seems to be to connect with deceased teachers and philosophers, who communicate with him and guide him in predicting the future.

The Predictions of Jose Ortiz, The Good Samaritan

Any psychic who makes predictions is going to be a controversial figure. Look at Sylvia Browne and how her predictions have brought her both fame and scorn. Jose Ortiz is probably most famous for books of “prediciones,” a few of which we’ll look at in detail. Understanding Ortiz’ predictions is the best way to understand Ortiz himself, and his psychic activities and gifts.

Most of Ortiz’ predictions involve disasters on a grand scale. This is another thing that brings him a lot of scorn from the paranormal community. Ortiz allegedly predicted the crash of TWA Flight 800, a famous plane crash involving a trans-Atlantic flight from New York to Paris, though there is no print or video evidence of this prediction.

Ortiz made headlines in the days following the terrorist attack of September 11th, claiming that he predicted both the bombing of the twin towers in the 1990s and the terrorist attacks by Osama bin Laden that collapsed the towers. When pressed for evidence of this prediction, and asked why he didn’t warn people about the tragedies, he was very vague, saying only that he knew a terrible and tragic thing would occur, and he knew no one would listen to him.

There is some documented evidence of Jose Ortiz’ predictions: exactly one year to the day before the transfer of power of government in Cuba from Fidel Castro to Raul Castro, Ortiz said on his TV program “The Call of Good Luck” that just such a thing would happen. During that TV show, he also predicted the Hurricane Katrina disaster in New Orleans, and there is evidence of his prediction that floods would drown many people and displace hundreds of thousands from their homes. The hurricane hit New Orleans within hours of his prediction, which has to send a chill up your spin.

How Did Jose Ortiz Become Famous?

When Ortiz was 11, he and most of his family moved to New York City, as many Puerto Ricans were doing at that time. His parents did not go with him, and he was left in the care of his older brother Enrique. Within three years, Ortiz’ psychic readings and powers of prediction became famous enough that young Jose was invited to speak on WADO radio in New York City. In the interview, he was questioned about his psychic powers by the radio host and famous Puerto Rican actress and model Gilda Miro. When a few of Ortiz’ minor predictions came true, including the mysterious death of thousands of pigeons within a few blocks of the radio station itself, the station’s president was impressed enough to give the teenage Jose his own show on WHBI in NY.

From when he was 14 until the early 1980s, Jose Ortiz was most famous for making major predictions and psychic forecasts in Spanish on various radio stations aimed at the Puerto Rican and Hispanic communities in New York City. Ortiz uses a mix of the Bible, tarot cards, astrology, and his own psychic intuition to make these predictions, and continues to do so, even though he is no longer a regular on American radio.

When José Ortiz moved back to Puerto Rico in the early 80s, he also changed his name to “El Buen Samaritano,” and began his own TV show, called “La Llamada de la Buena Suerte.” He made predictions about local politics, natural disasters, and things of importance to the Hispanic community. He can often be seen on Telemundo and Univision talking to callers about their future, communicating with the dead, and doing live tarot readings.

I like Jose Ortiz “The Good Samaritan” because of his blend of traditional Christian mysticism, modern New Age philosophy, and the arts of tarot and communication with the dead. His predictions, and claims of predictions, are somewhat difficult to back up with evidence, though if you speak Spanish, you can listen to his TV program and old radio shows and hear him make very accurate predictions of world events. These days, he focuses mainly on politics and entertainment in the Latin American world, and is not a major figure among American psychics. Still, any mystic who claims to predict things like terrorist attacks and plane crashes is going to garner a lot of attention, and Jose Ortiz’ bizarre style of dress and outlandish blend of traditions makes him stand out among a crowd of psychics that emerged from Puerto Rico and neighboring countries in the 1950s and 1960s.

Danielle Egnew is a licensed minister and worked for many years as a Christian pastor, though she has since moved on from the Christian faith. She can often be heard on talk shows on TV and radio promoting various psychic abilities, attempting to bring some legitimacy to the areas of the paranormal. Egnew says she wants to educate the public about the powers of clairvoyance, clairsentience, telepathy, and general paranormality. Egnew uses many different methods to do her psychic readings and channelings, though she is best known for claims that she mainly communicates with what she calls “angelic entitities,” spirits that live in what sound like a heaven as described by the Christian faith, though she does not say that the angels she communicates with are Christian angels.

Danielle Egnew on Twitter and YouTube

If you’re a fan of Danielle Egnew, you have lots of ways to follow her on the Internet. Her Twitter account is particularly active–follow her Twitter feed @danielleegnew for regular updates about her career, her latest projects, and her daily motivational posts.

Clips of Danielle Egnew’s work as a paranormal investigator are all over YouTube. This clip is a perfect example of the kind of material Egnew promotes on YouTube and through her Twitter account. This four minute clip is a teaser of a longer program.

The show this clip promotes, called “Montgomery House: The Perfect Haunting,” hasn’t aired yet, but this clip is certainly really engaging. Miss Egnew is really attractive and she has a ton of charisma, which must help her out in terms of getting work as a medium and spiritual healer.

The creepiest part of the above clip has nothing at all to do with the paranormal; to me, it’s the spiders infesting the house from the open spring in the basement. I’m really scared of spiders, and the camera crew did nothing to assuage those fears by focusing on the creepy crawly guys all over Montgomery House. I’m looking forward to the full-length show, but for now the YouTube clip is all we have.

Danielle Egnew & Paranormal Investigations

In 2006, Danielle Egnew was a co-founder of the now-famous paranormal investigation group The Western Pacific Paranormal Alliance. Their website, Haunted Playground3, is familiar to any of you who follow paranormal investigations and the popular ghost hunters shows on TV.

These days, Danielle Egnew can be heard regularly on her “Haunted Playground” radio show along with Sheena Metal. This talk radio show, focusing on all things paranormal, is produced by LA Talk Radio, and has a webseries that runs along side it, both of which are anchored by Egnew and longtime talk radio personality Sheena Metal. If you’re a fan of the paranormal and you haven’t been keeping up with “Haunted Playground,” you’re really missing out. It’s one of the better-produced and more intriguing American programs based on investigations of hauntings and paranormal activity, and frequently has guest appearances from psychics and mediums, both famous and obscure.

Where Do Danielle Egnew’s Powers Come From?

Danielle Egnew talks frequently about her Cherokee heritage. We know for sure that her great-great-grandmother was a full-blood Cherokee, though its unclear how much Native blood flows through her veins besides that distant relative.

Danielle says she gained her psychic and paranormal abilities from her Cherokee blood. According to episodes of her “Haunted Playground” talk show, Danielle Egnew has a cousin with extra-sensory perception and a grandfather who could predict the exact date of a person’s death, a process known in folklore as “death masks.” According to Egnew, her grandfather would actually see the person’s face at the time of their death, and was able to communicate with the dead after they passed on. Clearly there’s a lot of psychic ability in Egnew’s family.

Egnew’s first experience with the paranormal came at the age of three, fairly young compared to most famous psychics. When she was three years old, Danielle claims she saw a vision of her dead aunt, who she never met. Egnew says these experiences continued through her life, even”predicting” the collapse of the World Trade Center on a visit to new York City in 1985.

The Future of Danielle Egnew

Though she is not yet one of the most famous psychics in the world, Egnew is a constant presence on TV and radio, talking about the spirit world and her powers of clairvoyance. It doesn’t hurt that Danielle Egnew is good-looking and very charismatic, so she’s a regular guest on TV programs that might otherwise turn down someone who claims to have psychic powers drawn from talking to angels.

Egnew’s Twitter feed indicates that she’s currently on a nationwide radio and TV tour to promote her talk show and future paranormal investigation programs. I think we can expect big things from Danielle Egnew, based on the huge following her radio show has among the paranormal community and the fact that I see her and hear her voice all the time on TV shows and radio interviews dealing with clairvoyance, spiritual healing, and psychic powers. Danielle Egnew represents the next wave in American psychics, a blend of a major media personality and powerful spiritual activist. Check out Danielle Egnew’s YouTube videos for more examples of her psychic powers and abilities.

Sylvia Browne: A Brief Biography

Sylvia grew up in Kansas City, Missouri. Her father was Jewish and her mother Episcopalian, though Browne has said in many interviews that she herself feels closer to the Jewish faith than any other. Her father worked as the vice president of a major freight line, and Browne’s early life was spent in upper middle class and wealthy neighborhoods of Kansas City, a genesis story that sets her apart from the stories of many psychic mediums who claim to come from poor backgrounds.

According to Browne’s books, her psychic visions started when she was five years old, and that she was taught to understand these visions by her grandmother Ada Coil, who was also a psychic medium. Sylvia was coached and taught by Ada, and Ada Coil’s influence is evident in all of Sylvia’s books and interviews.

Browne’s real career as a medium started out in 1974, giving one-on-one readings to clients in her tiny apartment. Her fame grew by word-of-mouth, and as of this writing, Browne is one of the more expensive psychic mediums in the world. The last time we spoke, she told me she now charges $850 for 30 minute telephone reading.

Browne is a bit controversial because of claims she’s made about her work with police departments and the FBI. Browne has called herself a “psychic detective,” and is almost always in the news when some major crime hits the headlines. Though Browne has never backed up her claims of working with the FBI to solve crimes, she still appears on TV programs and in radio interviews to discuss the location of missing people or bodies–this kind of spiritual medium work is always controversial.

Sylvia Browne’s Website

Launched in April of 2008, SylviaBrowne.com is described as “an online spirituality destination that includes articles, blog postings, and videos from Sylvia.” On her Website, you can find information about getting private readings from Sylvia, and information about the abilities of her son Chris, whose services are listed on the Website as “discounted.” Chris charges around $300 for a 30-minute telephone reading, and claims his psychic medium powers are a genetic gift from his mother.

Sylvia Browne’s Predictions

One of the things Browne is most famous for are predictions. Anyone who makes predictions about the future, especially the near-future, is going to be controversial. Here are some samples of Browne’s most recent predictions, taken from an interview with SpiritNow.com in 2008:

“I predict a great rise in skin cancer in children until 2010. There is a lot of media coverage about the UV rays and many products to protect people against them.”

I’ve searched and searched and I can’t find anything about an increase in skin cancer in children between 2008 and 2010, and nothing about increased skin cancer among the young between 2008 and this writing, either. You could chalk up this prediction to a misreading, a misunderstanding, or just bad advice.

“I predict the President elected sometime between 2008 and 2020 will die in office from a heart attack. The Vice President who will finish their term will have an unpopular and mistaken intention to declare war on North Korea. By that time, North Korea will have weapons of mass destruction. In the middle of efforts to declare war, I predict the Vice President will be assassinated.”

Saying something of this magnitude is a big deal for any psychic medium. There are four elections between 2008 and 2020, and so far, no President has died in office from a heart attack, but we still have eight years to go to test this prediction. It is interesting, however, that Browne talks about the VP wanting to declare war on North Korea and their possession of weapons of mass destruction, as this falls in line with the latest news from North Korea. Whether or not a Vice President planning to go to war with North Korea will be assassinated is still up in the air, though it doesn’t seem out of the realm of possibility that America could go to war with North Korea, as that nation accumulates long-range missiles and continues to undergo a ton of political instability.

Sylvia Browne Church 2012

One thing Browne has done that no other modern medium has really gotten into is founding her own church. Novus Spiritus is a self-described “Gnostic Christian” church, which is strange considering that Browne has talked a lot about her Jewish faith in the past. The church has a grand total of 40 ministers, with Sylvia acting as just one of many leaders of the church.

According to the church’s Website, they follow “the same traditions and teachings which Jesus himself followed, yet does not exclude Buddhism, Judaism, Islam, or Hinduism.” Sylvia Browne’s church sounds more like a Unitarian/Universalist group, but they cling to that Gnostic Christian label, though nothing about the church is particularly Gnostic. Sometimes Browne’s sermons and spiritual readings include readings from the Gnostic Gospels (such as the Gospel of Mary Magdalene and the Gospel of Thomas), and she has been known to say that the Bible is a great book full of wisdom but is not “the unaltered word of God.”

Browne has her hand in a lot of different projects, and continues to give psychic readings, make TV appearances, and minister at her Novus Spiritus church in California, even though she had what was described as a “massive heart attack” in 2011. If you’re a fan of Sylvia Browne, you have plenty of books and magazine articles to pore through, as she is a particularly popular spiritual medium. Though her predictions haven’t always come true, she’s a major voice in the psychic community, and her founding of a Gnostic Christian church represents a new movement in the world of modern-day psychics and spiritual leaders.

John Edwards gained notoriety mostly for his two TV shows: Crossing Over with John Edward and John Edward Cross Country, though his appearances on talk shows and with famous news personalities, including a famous psychic reading with CNN maven Anderson Cooper, have brought him plenty of fame as well.

John Edward says that his first experiences as a psychic medium came as a very young child in the suburb Glen Cove, New York. Though Edward didn’t write his first book about his experiences as a psychic medium until 1998, John Edward spent basically his entire life communicating with the dead. John Edward became really well-known, and a little bit controversial, when his shows started appearing on the SciFi Channel in July 2000. John Edward has since moved to the We TV network, airing consistently on that channel since May of 2006.

John Edward is a multiple New York Times bestselling writer–it seems like any book with his name and picture on it is an instant best-seller. And for good reason; Edward’s powers are convincing, and it doesn’t hurt that he’s a handsome guy, displaying tons of confidence and charm.

So where did Edward’s abilities come from? John Edward was the child of a working-class family, both of his parents were devout Roman Catholics. John Edward eventually rejected that religion, though he says his first close experiences with God came from his time in the church. Speaking with Anderson Cooper about his own psychic medium abilities, Andrews said “This is something that is driven by a belief in God. It’s the energy from that force that I think allows us to create this energy.”

John Edward’s Path to Becoming a Psychic Medium

Edward’s books tell of a child battling with lots of internal doubt. At age 15, having communicated with the dead for a decade already, he had a psychic reading of his own. In a 2002 interview with USA Today, Edward said, “[The psychic reader] told me I would one day become internationally known for my psychic abilities through lectures, books, radio and TV. I thought she was full of it until she started to tell me things no one in my life knew about… The details were unbelievable.” Kind of spooky when you think about it–the psychic medium Edwards visited at the age of 15 was able to predict exactly the kind of fame he has found, as an international psychic medium writing books, giving interviews, and hosting TV shows.

Before he published his first book, One Last Time, Edward was working as a phlebotomist and studying for a degree in health care administration at Long Island University. Edward also worked as a ballroom dancing instructor and was highly competitive in the ballroom dancing circuit, before abandoning that hobby to work full-time as a medium

John Edward on YouTube

This YouTube clip of John Edward giving a reading to Anderson Cooper is a perfect microcosm of his typical style. It’s fun to watch Anderson Cooper, a personality we all know and trust from the TV news, hearing Edward’s reading and admitting that Edward “hit the nail on the head” on several things. Check out this clip for an example of Edward’s standard psychic medium style, which is a bit different from the way most psychics do business.

When John Edward says, early in this clip, that he “gets in the middle of what’s already there,” he perfectly encapsulates his philosophy about the activity of psychics and other spiritual mystics. Rather than claiming to communicate directly with the dead, Edward hints that is able to temporarily step into conversations already taking place. It’s as though Edward is able to peek into the world of the dead for just a second, pick up a few words or sentences of a conversation already taking place, and pop back to the land of the living and let us know what he heard.

It’s clear from watching this clip that Cooper is fairly skeptical, and even though this YouTube video is just a teaser from a much longer reading, as Cooper listens to what Edward has to say, you can see the eerie nature of Edward’s abilities affecting him. When John Edward describes Cooper’s dad’s family farm in Mississippi, all Cooper can do is laugh to himself and cover his face, almost in disbelief.

John Edward’s Website

The official John Edward Website, johnedward.net, is a really humble affair, consisting mostly of scheduled tour dates, information on how to get private readings with Edward, and links to his books for sale at Amazon and other retailers. The site also includes some video clips of Edward that rotate every now and then. As of this writing, the home page features a “lighthouse meditation” clip from YouTube, which is a short clip meant to help people quickly meditate and center their minds. At the end of the clip, viewers are urged to “state [their] intention,” the point of which isn’t explicitly outlined. The assumption is that by clearing your mind and listening to the calm sounds and watching the relaxing video can help you achieve your intended goal. This is pretty far outside the realm of most psychic mediums, and is a further sign that Edward is moving away from work as a psychic medium and more towards New Age philosophy.

So what does the future hold for John Edward? His Facebook page is a good place to get up-to-date information on what he’s up to. Right now he’s on tour, promoting a new book, this time a work of fiction about the end of the world. John Edward is still recording material for his TV shows and promoting his books, but he’s not in the limelight these days as much as he was even five years ago. It appears that Edward’s career is in transition, but his fans have a lot to look forward to. A new book deal, more episodes of his popular TV show, and plentiful YouTube clips of Edward doing psychic readings with famous people indicate that while Edward may be moving away from traditional psychic readings and medium work, he’s still planning on being an active part of the psychic community.
Here’s one of Miss Cleo’s famous commercials. If you’re like me, watching this YouTube clip of a Miss Cleo commercial will take you right back to the 90s, to the days of Super Nintendo and Crystal Pepsi, to a time when MTV still played music videos and the Internet was mostly used for chat rooms and message boards. Check out this clip for a classic dose of Miss Cleo.

Her commercials seemed to run all the time. There’s no telling how much the company paid for her near-constant presence on the TV. If you search YouTube for Miss Cleo, you’ll come up with hundreds of clips just like this; her commercials seem limitless, and there’s no lack of awesome Miss Cleo quotes to be found online and especially in YouTube videos.

There’s a lot of controversy surrounding Miss Cleo’s Jamaican accent, which was revealed to be a put-on. The Federal Trade Commission brought a lawsuit against the parent company of Miss Cleo’s services, and though Miss Cleo was not indicted, the fact that she was born in Los Angeles, not in Jamaica, came out during testimony. So the whole “Miss Cleo” thing was an act, and if you watch enough of her clips on YouTube, you’ll hear the inconsistencies in her accent. Sometimes she sounds extremely Jamaican, other times she slips and she sounds more American.

But does it really matter if Miss Cleo was putting on an act for the TV cameras? The company that hired her to do the commercials, which was never convicted of any wrongdoing or false advertising, also paid her to put on a persona, that of a Jamaican shaman. Miss Cleo was just doing what her bosses told her to do; something we all do, day in and day out, to pay the bills.

Regardless of whether or not you think that the whole fake Jamaican accent thing has any bearing on her abilities as a psychic, the services she provided were very popular for the six or seven years that they were in operation. When Access Resource Services, known better as the Psychic Readers Network, was sued by several state governments in 2001, the charge was that Miss Cleo and her parent company were using false claims in advertising. But the company was never found guilty, and in fact, testimony emerged during trial that “many customers were satisfied with the service,” according to Consumer Affairs magazine.

Miss Cleo Quotes

The commercials and clips on YouTube that you see when you hunt down Cleo’s videos always include a few standard quotes. One of the most memorable is “Cleo Can See Your Life,” followed closely by “Call Miss Cleo Now.” The commercials for her service are a real hoot, not just because the Miss Cleo character is funny, but because of the way the callers interact with her.

No commercial for the Psychic Readers Network would be complete without Cleo’s trademark “Callllll me now,” complete with a big smile and a thick Jamaican accent. Later commercials included the phrase “Call me now for a free tarot readin’,” and when users would call the 1-800 number associated with the service, they’d get a free pre-recorded tarot card reading, followed quickly by offers of further services, each for an additional cost.

One thing about her commercials that always stood out to me was when she’d ask “What question would you have for me in YOUR tarot readin’?” While the commercials were mostly sound clips of her doing live tarot card readings for her customers, that question always stuck in my head. I never called Miss Cleo’s Psychic Readers Network, but I remember thinking about that question any time one of her commercials came on, which was quite often. Being interested in psychics, fortune tellers, and tarot cards, I must admit that the commercials did a good job of cementing Miss Cleo in my head.

More Miss Cleo Quotes and Clips

Sometimes, the commercials for her service centered more on clips of her talking live to her customers, such as this memorable commercial where Miss Cleo chides a woman for giving all her money to her boyfriend:

I love it when she says: “You run around lookin’ like a pauper and he runs around looking GQ.” Coupled with her Jamaican accent, the line is just plain funny. I guess that’s what made Miss Cleos commercials and quotes so memorable, the combination of her accent and the Jerry Springer-style stories and gossip being tossed back and forth between Cleo and her clients.

You don’t see much of her these days. The Fuse network, a sort of MTV-style music and pop culture TV channel available on cable, hires her occasionally for specials, interviews, and advertisements. Other than that, Miss Cleo has fallen out of the public eye. If you place a call to her old psychic hotline, you’ll find that the service has ended, and another company now owns the 1-800 number used by the Psychic Readers Network to offer Miss Cleo’s shamanic and tarot reading services. But even though the Miss Cleo character is gone from our TV sets, for the most part, it’s hard to get her voice and her quotes out of your head. For a few years in the late 90s and early 2000s, Miss Cleo was easily the best-known and most popular medium in America, and maybe all over the world.

What Tarot Is Not

Tarot has been identified with the five major religions in various guises and symbolizes their tenets of wisdom. Some have declared them “evil”, or “magic”. Some believe the cards will enslave or brainwash people. What tarot is is pictures on paper shaped like cards. Any inference is in the spirituality of the beholder.

Another thing tarot is not is a set of rules and regulations. Persons seeking answers to questions outside themselves, that is to say, not spiritual in nature, will be disappointed. Representations on tarot cards and their interpretations are spiritual in nature and lead the seeker to study himself for the answers to his questions.

History

Egypt. The earliest mention of tarot comes from ancient Egypt, wherein all the knowledge of the ancient world was recorded in the first written records. Pictures and written wisdom were recorded on sheets of gold leaf. Ancient priests were the only persons qualified or, indeed, educated enough to read them.

Sumeria. Mesopotamian culture included pictographs which were interpreted by their priests. Astrology, numerology and ancient wisdom were recorded into the pictures which some believe are the basis of modern tarot cards.

Ancient Celts. Ancient Celts used tarot as a method of teaching the ancient wisdom brought by the original Druids from Atlantis. Many women were educated by the Druids in a time when the men were taught the same but concentrated on warfare, mostly. Thus were Druid priestesses teachers and wisewomen.

What Is Tarot? How Do Tarot Cards Work?

There are 22 major arcana. This corresponds to the number of branches on the Tree of Life and also the number of letters in the Hebrew alphabet. The describe every facet of daily life and when seen together describe the universe as a whole. They are: The Fool, Magus, Priestess, Empress, Emperor, Hierophant, Lovers, Chariot, Adjustment, Hermit,
Fortune, Strength, the Hanged Man, Death, Art, the Devil, Tower, Star, the Moon, the Sun, Aeon and Universe.

The minor arcana are: Wands (fire), Ace through Ten, Princess, Prince, Queen and Knight; Cups (water) containing the same range of cards; Swords (air) and Disks (earth). Manmade representations of the wisdom of God.

These aren’t the only coaches, advisors, and consultants you can call on at the Live Person Experts Network.

For instance, if you want to consult with a non-judgmental expert on the occult or paranormal concerns, there is a section with 165 occult experts and 46 different paranormal advisors. That’s something you’re not going to see on a lot of online psychic websites.

Spiritualism & Religion at LivePerson.com

If you are interested in more structured spiritual beliefs or have religious questions, there are sections on “Religion”, “Kabbalah”, and ”Eastern Philosophy”. These aren’t going to have quite as many experts in them, but the people you’ll find there are dedicated. They also aren’t there to bust your chops, like many religious experts are prone to do.

Related Spiritual Topics

There are some interesting topics I hardly ever see on psychic sites I visit, such as the “Universal Laws” section, which appears to bleed over into a number of other topics. Graphology experts can also be found on-site.
For those who don’t want to have to look it up, a graphologists studies handwriting samples to learn about a person’s character and other traits.

There’s also the New Age Spiritual experts. “New Age” has certain connotations, but it’s actually a term that draws in a whole lot of spiritual movements, involving (but hardly restricted to) astrology, alternative medicine, occultism, the Gaia philosophy, ecology, Chinese folk religion, Theosophy, Neopaganism, one of my favorites, Gnosticism, Buddhism, and aspects of many other world religions. Of course, New Age philosophies might be taken from science, psychology, pop psychics, environmentalism, or even esotericism or ancient pantheism. It’s hard to pigeon-hole the movement.

Live Psychic Readings – 3 Free Minutes!

With that in mind, you can imagine the many different type of experts you’ll find in the New Age sections. You’ll find consultants who overlap many of these different categories, but many don’t.

Psychic Sub-Categories

You’ll find each big section has its own sub-categories. Just as an example, the New Age section has topics like astral projection, empowerment, crystal healing, intuitive behavior, teleology (study of design & purpose),
and the 45 experts who are happy to discuss the mysterious “Secret” (positive thoughts for wealth, happiness, etc).

Or let’s use another example: “Psychic Reading”. This section has 934 psychic advisors, as well as a whole list of sub-categories. You’ll find most of what we’ve discussed in our other reviews, as well as subjects well off the beaten path of psychic powers. Below are the categories you can explore.

Psychic Reading Experts List

Aura Reading

Crystal Reading

Reaching Beyond

Rune Casting

Remote Viewing

Pet Psychics

Lectures Psychiques

UK Psychics

Psiquicos Expertos

Hellsehen & Wahrsagen (German: Seeing the Future & Soothsaying)

I haven’t seen too many of our psychic websites that give readings for your pets. Your dogs and cats have health issues and bouts of depression, like people, so it might set your mind at ease to consult with an animal psychic, I imagine.

International Psychic Expertise

As you can see, you’ll be able to get regional psychics from Germany, France, Spain, and other Spanish-speaking lands. For those Englishmen out there, you can get a psychic reading by someone from the United Kingdom, as opposed to dealing with Americans who might not understand your cultural milieu. Americans might prefer British psychics, too, just because they might seem more mystical.

What Is Rune Casting?

You might be wondering “what is rune casting”? A runecaster uses runic divination to divine secrets about you and your subconscious from the universe. This person is a little like someone rolling the bones, since they have a rune pouch filled with tiles, often ceramic tiles, that contain various runes. Using the “wyrd”, psychology, and intuition, the rune caster can advise a person on their future path. Rune casting experts (to my knowledge) do not claim to see the future, as they believe the future is mutable, but they do point out likely outcomes.

LivePerson Astrology Experts

There are 270 astrology experts on “Live Person”, along with 75 Vedic astrologers and 25 Chinese astrologers. These LivePerson experts each come with a profile and rating, along with customer reviews. The profiles include names, pictures, and prices per minutes. Each has either a “send email”, ”contact live” or even “start free” button, to help you get started.

Live Psychic Readings – 3 Free Minutes!

LivePerson Fortune Telling

The Live Person fortune tellers number 362 at the moment, with some who specialize in love fortunes, spirit mediums, and clairvoyance. I even found one who does pure psychic readings without asking any information (cold reading). This lady’s expertise include love, relationships of all kinds, career advice, and “soul mates”.

LivePerson Psychic Experts

As you can see, Live Person has an expert for everyone. If you have a question, somebody on LivePerson is going to know the answer. If you have a psychic or spiritual question, there’s an expert on Live Person who gets
paid to advise people on that very question. I’m not going to tell people they should pay the going rate per minute to speak with Live Person psychics, but I am going to tell you there’s a world of advisors on LivePerson.com.

Keen’s Best Deals in 2012

Keen has a “Free 3-Minute Call” option for new members, where you get free psychic advice to help you in your daily life. This is a good way to test out Keen’s product, without being out a lot of money. You’ll need to give credit card information, but this isn’t some scam. Instead, this helps Keen to assess which country you’re from, for the sake of paying their free psychic advisors. (I’ll explain this in more depth later.) If you decide you don’t want to pay for more psychic readings, simply hang up before 3 minutes are over and it’s free.

One big advantage of being a Keen psychic customer is that the site doesn’t give out your phone number or other information to their psychics. This is safe and secure among the Keen management, so you don’t have to worry about psycho fortune tellers returning your calls, if you decide to stop paying for their readings. Because Keen holds your credit card information, they have your billable call length and pass on earning to the psychics. The psychics don’t have your credit card information, so Keen can mediate any disputes. Also, people receive refunds through Keen. Customers are taken from all over the world, though rates for international calls are understandably higher.

How to Use Keen.com

Keen is easy to use to get information, life advice, or perspective. It’s not random chance who you speak to, because you search through profiles, including background, credentials, price, a photo, and feedback. Three steps and you’re talking to a phone psychic whom you’ve researched. Here are the steps.

Search the Keen Psychic Directory

Click on the Psychic’s “Call Now” Button.

Wait by Your Phone until the Phone Rings.

Stay on the line until you have the advice and encouragement you need. Hang up and you’ll be billed on your credit card using the per-minute fee found underneath that psychic’s name online.

Free 3 Minute Calls

Keen has a continuous “Free 3 Minute Calls” that visitors to the website should consider. Keen uses this set-up to break in new psychics to their website, as you can tell from the link given. You’ll be able get advice and readings from psychics with the first three minutes free. After that, your rates go to $1.99 a minute, so keep that in mind when trying out this system.

Keen Psychic Readings

Keen also offers psychic readings for the rate of $1.99 for the first 10 minutes. Click on “Keen Psychic Readings” and select from the list of advisors there, including advisors with well over a thousand reviewers. Once you’ve selected the psychic you want to get advice from, call 1-800-480-0431, then enter your advisor’s extension, which is listed in the bottom right hand corner of each psychic advisor’s profile. This is one of the best bargains on the site, if you want a specialist in astrology and tarot readings.

Today’s Featured Advisors

When you reach Keen’s homepage, you’ll see information on the selected psychic readers of the day, along with ratings information, pictures and avatars to get a feel for this psychics’ vibe, their price listing, and other details. The difference in price ranges can be stark, such as “InnerWhispers” and “JAGGER01″ costing over $9 a minute. Besides these two high-priced psychics, most psychic information costs between $1 and $1.99 a minute.

The psychic advisor profiles offer a lot of background, so you can choose the mentalist who best suits your needs. Each has a rating from 1 to 5 stars, along with how many people have rated this person (usually between 500 and 5,000 people apiece). From what I can tell, each 1-to-5 star review is added to the overall rating, with perhaps some other minor adjustments.

You can click on these ratings to see eBay-style remarks about customers’ experience with these people. Most of the comments are a sentence or two, but when you have thousands of people making comments, you’ll start to get an idea what these people are like. One quick browse through a profile included descriptions like “detailed”, “kind”, “wise”, “helpful”, ”intuitive” and “accurate”.

Personalized Psychic Email Readings

For those willing to pay a flat $19.95 fee and write a 250 word description of yourself, you can get a personalized psychic reading via email within 2 days. This is for those people who feel more comfortable revealing their innermost secrets in a more controlled written fashion, than in a verbal communication, or for those people who want to pay a flat fee and have their psychic advice on their computer screen in front of them. Here’s how you get your own personal psychic reading via email.

Register or Sign In at Keen

Choose a Psychic Advisor from the List

Click on “Ask Your Question”

Write Your Question (250 words or more)

Send the Question via “Keen Mail”

Pay Your Advisor, once Requested (within 1 day)

Receive Your Psychic Reading within Another Day

These psychics are from a different list than the telephone psychic mediums. When you click on “Email Readings by Keen”, you’ll see psychic profiles of the various psychics and life coaches you can ask your question to, including the top psychics of the moment: “Steven Craig”, “Visionary Joshua”, “SensitiveHeart” and “LakHei Tarot”. My favorite is “AesonKnight”, a third generation clairvoyant who gives readings for half the price. For tarot readings, I suggest “Queen of Hearts 58″. Each has their own Q&A style and expertise, so find the one who is perfect for you.

Keen Psychic Insight

While I’m not going to tell readers you won’t find scam artists on Keen, this psychic website offers easy-to-find information on their psychic network, so you can thoroughly research which psychics that sound like frauds or con artists trying to run a scheme. This tends to cut down on the bad psychics, letting you find the piece-of-mind and assurance you’re seeking. Keen.com has been around since 1999, so this isn’t some fly-by-night operation that’s going to close shop tomorrow, when you ask for your money back. In the psychic reading industry, it doesn’t come much bigger than Keen.

Reading Tarot cards requires certain capabilities. It’s important for the prospective student of Tarot cards to be able to control mental distractions. White noise distracts the mind from reading Tarot cards and diminishes the value of readings.

Deep Meditation

How Do You Become a Tarot Card Reader?

Tarot cards are best read when there is a natural inclination to do so. Whenever an issue or situation arises, something from deep within the mind inclines the individual to seek guidance from meditation on Tarot cards. Deepest concentration is achieved when worldly distractions are shut out and the mind is open.

The Wealth Of Inspiration From Tarot Cards

In addition to honing meditative skills, Tarot cards also provide a good source of inspiration. This is a result of allowing Tarot cards to fall as they may. The prospective Tarot card reader should understand that natural inclination is part of becoming an inspired Tarot card reader.

This simply means the reader should be alert to their impulses. For example, take note of the impulse to draw cards from the right hand or the left. Ancient Tarot card readers believed a person draws their fate with their own two hands as they draw each card as in the axiom, “Fate is in your hands.”

Combining impulse with natural inclination and the power of choice are essential qualities for understanding the connection between reading Tarot cards and sensitizing the mind to extended dimensions. A good teacher of Tarot is one who provides students with information on how to lay out the Tarot cards for readings and helps them identify the Major and Minor arcanas.

Each practitioner of Tarot cards builds a unique relationship with their deck of cards. Some Tarot readers allow others to draw cards for readings. Others never allow any hands but their own to touch their personal deck of cards.

The advanced practitioner of Tarot card reading begins to sense the total connection to the universe and the connections to astrology, numerology and the mystical dimension that lies between reality and fantasy. This is a natural progression for many Tarot card readers.

Although it is a good idea to consult with advanced Tarot card readers for instructions, eventually the student finds their Tarot card reading skills to be adequate for their needs. As readers build their innate relationship with their Tarot cards, they may find their skills have developed differently than other readers.

Because it takes a depth of sensitivity to understand Tarot cards, learning how to read Tarot is more a matter of personal growth in mystical wisdom. Each reading produces a different understanding and picture depending on the reader’s meditative skills. A reader learns that Tarot cards merely speaks of what lies in the mystical dimension of which the reader may not be aware.

In essence, learning to read Tarot cards is an in-depth study of unseen circumstances or issues brought forth through concentration on cards drawn, the nature of each card and the reader’s ability to understand the association.

I’m pretty sure not all of these names refer to a specific person, but this gives you an idea the specificity of the spells being invoked.

White Magic Spells – California Astrology Association

Now, the California Astrology Association doesn’t implicitly tout these spells as “white magic” – that’s my distinction. These are spells which tend to help you without harming others. They tend to be restorative and purge evil from your life in some way. A few involve the “power of positive thought”, giving you the confidence and focus you need to make necessary changes in your life. These tend to be what I call “harmless”, because they don’t necessarily encourage you to think bad thoughts about other people.

Aura Cleansing Spells

Self-Improvement Spells

Go For It Spells

Purge Evil Spirits

Happiness Spell

Think Thin Spell

End Regrets Spell

Dream-Catcher Spell

While I’m not sure what I think about the “Think Thin” spell, I can see the psychological assistance believing in a “Go for It” or “End Regrets” spell might offer. The rite of passage that a spell might offers in getting regrets out of your mind might help a person with particular neuroses, though I doubt it would help many. The Go-For-It spell might boost your confidence, if you believe you have something that’s going to assist you, if you take a change. Fortune favors the bold, they say, so I can see the value in the power of positive thought, in this case.

Powerful Sterling Silver Jewelry Charms & Talismans

Black Magic Spells – Castrology

This next list of spells I find abhorrent. I don’t necessarily find them abhorrent, because I think they actually are zapping people with curses, hexes and witchcraft. I find them abhorrent, because they encourage people to wish bad things on their fellow human beings, instead of finding positive ways to resolve their life issues. Don’t find a way to solve your problems reasonably, or get out of a bad situation; buy a revenge or retribution spell.

This is where I wonder about the California Astrology Association. Ask yourself what you think about a group of sorcerers and wiccans who are willing to sell their abilities to harm people based on your ability to pay $30. Mind you, the CAA doesn’t seem to care whether you are the aggrieved in these situations. They’ll take sides, whether you’re the good buy or the bad guy, depending on who is first to pay them. This is black hat astrology, in my point of view.

Imagine two people in a dispute, both going to the Castrology website, hoping to pay the CAA to place the dreaded Snake-Eyes spell on each other. Boom – you both get hammered by perhaps the worst spell known to the California Astrology Association. Imagine if your enemy chooses the ”Preemptive Strike Spell” or the “Reverse Curse Spell”. Then your money goes for naught, and you get hammered with your own deviltry.

I suppose the CAA would tell you they know who is good and who is bad, because of their psychic powers, astrology readings, and skills at tarot. I haven’t yet seen them make that claim on their website, though. For all you can tell, the CAA is willing to curse perfectly innocent people for twenty or thirty dollars. In fact, for six dollars more, they’ll double the strength of that curse.

California Astrology Association Money Spells

Perhaps the money spells list is less corrupt, though I once again wonder how the metaphysics of this works. Once again, let’s use our imaginations. Imagine you are a powerful psychic with the ability to know beforehand what the lottery winning numbers are going to be, which is the implication in the Lottery spell. Would you play the lottery and retire to a beach in the Caribbean, or sell that ability to someone else for $29?

I suppose it hasn’t been proven that psychics from the California Astrology Association haven’t done both. I guess, once again, these people could be running this website from that beach in the Caribbean, but it also seems like twenty-nine dollars is small change for someone who has won the lottery. Also, why haven’t we heard about all these lottery winners who used the CAA website? Maybe it’s a well-kept secret.

Or maybe their Bingo-Sweeps Lottery Spell doesn’t work. Once again, their page selling this spell doesn’t explicitly state you’ll win the lottery, if you buy this magick (only that you’ll be better at games of chance), but why name it the lottery spell, if you aren’t trying to convince people it’s going to help them win the lotto, Mega Millions or Powerball?

Once again, this is just a small sampling. The people at the California Astrology Association know a thing or two about using magic spells to make money, though perhaps not in the way advertised. A lot of the CAA’s spells have to do with money or your bank account. The only subject more traveled is love and relationships magic.

What I hate about the money spell list is that people needing money are sending their money to the CAA, instead of saving it up.

Love Spells

The love spells, I’ll be a little less harsh on. A lot of times, having the confidence to speak to the guy or girl you’ve had the crush on is half the battle. So buying a spell which gives you a false sense of security might have a placebo effect which gets you moving in the right direction. Women love confidence, so if you’re a guy who needs an “Adore Me” or “Make Me Sexy” spell to give him that confidence, then maybe these have a certain value. Maybe, maybe not.

Love Magic Spell

The magic love spells I’m not so sure about are the ones like the “Couple Buster” spell or the “Enchantment” spell. The first appears to be a curse to break up a possibly contented couple, while the second appears to put an enchantment on someone who wouldn’t otherwise be attracted to you. You might as well buy the Rohypnol Spell or the Roofies Spell.

The Krakow Spell

One of my favorites is the Krakow spell. This is kind of an everything spell. The person behind this magic helps you become a master of your life. This will-worker is a telepathic blessed with the power to connect and forge a bond with a person. Their telepathy is so great, in fact, that the Krakow spell-caster can determine exactly what you desire and need.

Your bond will become stronger with “Krakow” (for lack of a better distinction). They will know your pain, frustrations, and disappointments. Eventually, though, you may sense their spirit beside you, giving you the necessary force to gain riches “in love and money”.

What do you have to pay to get this kind of powerful boost? Only $29. If you want the spell cast twice to increase its power – once now and one in two hours – all you have to do is pay $6 more. $35.00 is all you need to have the Krakow Spell change your life. That’s Amazing.

Do Calastrology Spells Work?

Since ethical concerns might not be high up on your list of priorities when deciding whether to buy from the California Astrology Association, let’s address the question which might be more of a concern to potential customers: do Castrology spells work?

I did some searching for “california astrology association scams” and found a number of people who complained the CAA wasn’t honoring their moneyback pledge. Those posted complaints tended to be countered by people who either said the CAA spells worked for them, or that they had honored their promises and paid them back. Some pointed out that the CAA’s guarantee is for 1 year, so they don’t pay you back until a year transpires and nothing’s happened. Others suggested they were paid back within 3 to 6 months, usually a week or so after complaint.

This goes to show that CAA spells don’t always work. The people defending the California Astrology Association claimed that spells only worked when they believed in them and kept a positive attitude. This is a great built-in excuse, of course. If the spell didn’t work, it’s not the fault of the California astrologers. You just didn’t believe enough.

California Astrology Association Success Rate

I suppose those who support noetic science might say that, for a skeptic or disbeliever in magic, these spells are never going to work for you. If you believe that magic spells can help you in your life and it’s worth roughly $29 to you to find out, then try out the California Astrology Association. If you have lingering doubts or qualms, save your money.
